District 33 Appeal

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, District 33’s checking account has been depleted.  Our account is currently being audited to determine the actual amount owed to the District.  While we have been promised and are confident that the funds will be replaced, we don’t know when the money will be returned.  Our District has outstanding bills to pay for needed and ongoing expenses.  We are also in the process of planning both a 4th Step Workshop to be held in February and our annual Alathon to be held on June 19.  Advance funding is needed to cover expenses in preparation for these fund-raising events. We are, therefore, asking you to review your treasury accounts to determine if any donations can be made at this time and also to solicit voluntary donations from members by passing an envelope during each of the next three weeks.

We deeply regret what has happened, I can assure you that we are reviewing processes and procedures to ensure this does not happen again.  Your Group Reps will receive information at our monthly open District meetings to provide you ongoing updates.  In addition, you are always invited to join us at these meetings if you have questions or suggestions for assisting us in this effort.  We truly appreciate your consideration of this very special and unusual request.   Download meeting contribution form or individual contribution form.                                                                      Irene C., District Representative

Rent and Other Group Expenses

“Our tradition of self-support suggests that the expenses for the group’s operation such as rent, literature, insurance, supplies, post office box rental, Group Representative and Information Service Representative expenses be met first. Remaining funds may be used to support local and area structures and the World Service Office.” (Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual 2006-2009. p.88)

After each group meets its direct expenses and prudent reserve, many groups are able to donate excess funds to its service arms. These include the World Service Office (forms will be sent to registered meetings, i.e. Quarterly Appeal, but ok to send without form); So Cal World Service; Los Angeles Central Office; and World Service District 33. Suggested Group Contributions (as per group conscience) are as follows:
